I liked how the author of "The Whipping Boy" kept you on your toes, and how the book was very suspenseful. I would recommend this book to 9 to 12 year olds. I think they would get a kick out of it.
I think that the experience of blogging was very fun. I got to use my head once in a while and it was helpful to remember the book by having to write a summary.
I would like to thank Mr. Skura for following my blog.
Sincerely,
Jordan

Whipping Boy - Ch. 19 - 20 What I Did Not Like
I didn't like how Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy were running after Jemmy and the Prince in the sewer, because it was mean. They should not have chased them because Jemmy knows the sewers better than the villains do. I also did not like how Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy threatened to kill Jemmy and the Prince. This seemed to happen in every chapter of the book. I did not like this because it made Jemmy and the Prince even more scared and it was mean.
Whipping Boy - Ch. 19 - 20 What I Liked
I liked how Jemmy and the Prince lost Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy in the sewers. That made me feel very relieved. I also liked how they got back to the castle safely. I also liked how Jemmy and the Prince ended up being friends at the end of the story. Last but not least, I liked how the King spared Jemmy in the end.
Whipping Boy - Ch. 19 - 20 Summary
After escaping with the help of Petunia, Chapter 19 begins with Jemmy and the Prince being chased by the two villains, Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy, so they decide to hide in the sewer. The villains, Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy, follow them until they reach a certain point. Then, to get even farther away from the villains, the Prince throws Jemmy's rat catching cage near the brewery where there are plenty of dangerous rats. Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy follow the sound and end up running out of the sewer with rats attached to their bodies.
The boys go back to the kingdom. The King was very happy because his Prince was returned to the kingdom by Jemmy. Jemmy is spared and is now Prince Brat's newest friend. Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy get put on a convict ship headed to a convict island.

Whipping Boy - Ch. 16 - 18 What I Did Not Like
I disliked it when Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy decided to whip both of the boys very hard. Worst of all they whipped the Prince and not the Whipping Boy. So I feel really sorry for Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy, because you are not allowed to whack the Prince. I think that they will be sent to jail for whacking the Prince. Even though they deserve to go to jail, I feel sorry for the two of them.
Whipping Boy - Ch. 16 - 18 What I Liked
I liked it when Petunia came and saved Prince Brat and Jemmy from getting the whipping of a lifetime. I also liked it when the soldiers came looking for the Prince and then the bear stuck its head out the window of the buggy and the soldiers told Captain Harry Nips to move on.
Whipping Boy - Ch. 16 -18 Summary
It starts out when Jemmy and the Prince are riding in the Potato Man's buggy. The Potato Man's name is Captain Harry Nips. The buggy gets pulled over by Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy. They ask the driver (Captain Harry Nips) if he has seen their runaway "apprentices." Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy just made this up to trick Captain Harry Nips.
The driver, Captain Harry Nips, told them that he didn't know of any runaway apprentices, but allowed both of them to search his buggy. Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy found the Prince sitting in the back seat of the buggy. Prince Brat told Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy that Jemmy swam the river. This was part of Jemmy's plan. Jemmy was hiding in the buggy, but they found Jemmy under the seat in the buggy. The plan didn't work.
Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy took both of the boys out of the buggy and started whipping them until Betsy and Petunia the Dancing Bear got there. Betsy, who knew both Jemmy and the Prince, made Petunia scare off Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy. Betsy, Petunia, Jemmy, and Prince Brat got back into the buggy and rode off to the carnival to take Betsy and Petunia to the carnival to make money. This is how the section ended.

Whipping Boy - Ch. 11 - 15 - What I Did Not Like
I did not like it when Prince Brat and Jemmy were fighting, because they were fighting over something very stupid. They fought over why the Prince did not just leave and go with the ransom note, because it would have been a straight shot back to the kingdom for the Prince.
I also did not like it how Prince Brat would not go along with the plan to have him take the ransom note to the King.
I liked everything else in the chapters because there was no fighting involved.

Whipping Boy - Ch. 11 - 15 - Summary
This week is about Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy trying to figure out who was going to deliver the ransom note. It is also about Jemmy and the Prince, and their ideas to escape successfully.
Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy decided that the Whipping Boy should deliver the ransom note. When Prince Brat, who Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy thought was the Whipping Boy, refused to deliver the note, Jemmy had to come up with another plan to escape. Jemmy was going to let the Prince escape by delivering the ransom note.
Jemmy's second plan was to hide in the hay and have the Prince tell Cutwater and Billy that he had run off, so that they both could escape.
When Cutwater asked the Prince where Jemmy was, the Prince told him that Jemmy was in the hay pile. Jemmy realized that if he was going to be able to escape, he would have to run for it. Jemmy and the Prince both ran for it and hid in the woods. After they successfully escaped, they met a Hot Potato Man. He is a man who sells hot, baked potatoes to people to eat. The boys ran to the Hot Potato Man's horse and buggy and asked him if he could give them a ride back to the castle.
The Hot Potato Man said, "yes," and they got a ride back to the castle. Chapter 15 ends with the trip to the castle.

I liked how the Prince did not leave Jemmy behind when Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy asked him to deliver the ransom note.
I liked how Jemmy and the Prince successfully ran away from Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy.
I liked that Jemmy knows how to mudlark. Mudlarking is searching for driftwood to sell to to people as firewood to get money. Jemmy told the Prince that he would not survive alone because he always got served food on china plates, just like magic. The Prince realized that Jemmy was right, so he turned around and started to help Jemmy to mudlark.
I liked how Jemmy and the Prince found a ride. They just finished collecting driftwood when they both saw a Hot Potato Man and decided that they should get a ride from him.

Whipping Boy - Ch. 6 - 10 - What I Did Not Like
I disliked it when Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy made Jemmy write a ransome note. I believe that the ransome would be wasting the King's money because Prince Brat really isn't a very nice kid - he plays very mean tricks all the time and there is not much point having the Prince around. I think that they should just have let Jemmy and Prince Brat go.
Also, I did not like it when Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy fed Jemmy and the Prince stale bread. I did not like this because I think that they deserve more than just stale bread to eat. It was mean because the Prince usually eats a lot of fancy food and the Prince brought fancy food with him, but Hold-Your-Nose Billy and Cutwater decided to take it away and eat it themselves. This seemed very unfair.
I also did not like that Jemmy and the Prince were not allowed to talk alot. Even though they are captives, they should at least be able to talk (or even whisper). Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy were allowed to talk and Prince Brat and Jemmy should be able to talk because they have to ask for food and water, and it is very mean to not let people talk.

Whipping Boy - Ch. 6 - 10 - What I Liked
I liked it when Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy got tricked into thinking that Jemmy was the Prince and that Prince Brat was the whipping boy. It was also funny that Prince Brat got steamed over the mistake.
I liked it when Jemmy decided to try and trick his kidnappers. I thought this was very funny, because I could see how two boys could outsmart two adults.
I also liked it when Prince Brat decided not to play along with Jemmy's plan and told Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy was hiding in the pile of hay. I liked this because I can be like that sometimes, and disagree with plans.
I liked that Jemmy found a hiding place away that was away from Cutwater and safe from the bear that was also in the forest. I thought that Jemmy was very clever.

The Whipping Boy - Ch. 6 - 10 - Summary
These chapters are about Prince Brat and Jemmy getting snatched by Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy. Prince Brat and Jemmy were captured in Chapter 5 and Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy were trying to decide how much the Prince and Jemmy would be worth in gold.
Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy took them to their secret hideout in the forest. Because Jemmy could write, and Prince Brat could not write, Cutwater and Hold-Your-Nose Billy (Billy) thought that Jemmy was the Prince and Prince Brat was the whipping boy. Cutwater and Billy decide that if the King is going to get the Prince and his whipping boy back, the King is going to have to pay a ransome. Cutwater and Billy decide to write a ransome note. Neither one of them can writer, so they ask Jemmy to write the note.
Before the villians can send Prince Brat to the King with the ransome note, they left the room for a few minutes and let the boys cool off, because they were angry with each other. This is because the villians thougtht that Jemmy was the Prince, and this made the Prince angry. Jemmy reveals his plan to the Prince to escape, which is that Jemmy will hide in the hay pile. The Prince will tell the villians that Jemmy ran off and when they search for Jemmy, Jemmy and the Prince will have their chance to escape.
Because he is angry, the Prince refuses to work with the plan. When Cutwater and Billy come back the Prince reveals exactly where Jemmy is hiding. This is where chapter 10 ends.

Whipping Boy - Ch. 1 - 5 - What I Did Not Like
One thing I did not like in this section of the book was when Jemmy got whacked several times when the Prince should have received the punishment. I did not like this because I believe that Jemmy does not deserve to be whacked.
Another thing I didn't like is when the Prince and Jemmy ran away, Jemmy didn't have a choice on whether he should go or not. The Prince made Jemmy run away with him, because he needed somebody to help him.
I do not like the Prince because he brat-like and mean.
I did not like it when Hold-Your-Nose-Billy and Cutwater captured Jemmy and the Prince. They tied Jemmy and the Prince together by the wrists and stowed them in a corner. It seems like a very cruel and mean thing to do.

Whipping Boy - Ch. 1 - 5 - What I Liked Most
One of the things that I liked the most about chapters one through five is when Jemmy and the Prince run off into the forest. I liked this because it seems like the most positive part of the first five chapters. Most of the first five chapters are about Jemmy getting whipped.
Another thing that I liked was Jemmy as a character in the story. I like Jemmy because he is a nice boy, he is brave and he does not pout when he gets whacked.
I liked reading about some of the jokes that Prince Brat played. One of them was when he got under the dinning room table and somehow made it so that when everyone stood up their wigs fell off.
I liked learning that Jemmy's father is a rat catcher. He catches rats in a box and then he sells them to make money.

The Whipping Boy - Chapters 1 - 5 - Summary
The Whipping Boy is about a boy back in the 19th Century. He is the King's "whipping boy." Every time the King gets angry at the Prince, he calls upon his whipping boy and punishes the whipping boy instead of the Prince. The whipping boy's name is Jemmy, and Jemmy is an orphan. Jemmy is the same age as the Prince. Every time Jemmy gets whipped, he doesn't cry or pout. The Prince gets angry because Jemmy does not cry when Jemmy is whipped.
The Prince is called Prince Brat behind his back because he plays jokes on the King and all his people. The jokes he plays are mean and intollerable. The Prince refuses to learn to write from his tutor. Jemmy learned how to write over the summer.
One night the Prince decides to run away from the kingdom. He brings Jemmy with him. They ran away into the forest and they meet two people called "Hold-Your-Nose-Billy" and "Cutwater." They are cruel adults and they take the Prince and Jemmy into one of their hideouts. At the end of Chapter 5, Hold-Your-Nose Billy and Cutwater discuss how much the boys are worth, especially the Prince.
